How this indicator is defined

Methodology version v1.0

AlignmentField 2Alignment

Strategic goalField 3Strategic goal
Ensure eligible patients are up to date on colorectal cancer screening by ANY accepted modality, reflecting the real-world choice between stool-based and endoscopic screening.
RationaleField 5Rationale
Colorectal cancer screening is effective through multiple modalities with different intervals. A composite 'up-to-date by any modality' measure reflects how screening is actually delivered and avoids under-counting patients screened by colonoscopy.
How it's computedScoring method, numerator, denominator, inclusions, exclusions.
NumeratorField 6Numerator
Active rostered patients in the denominator with at least one FIT within 2 years OR one colonoscopy within 10 years OR one flexible sigmoidoscopy within 5 years of period end.
DenominatorField 7Denominator

Active rostered patients, sex=F or M, age 50–74 at reporting-period end.

  • Sex eligibility: F, M
  • Age range: 5074
  • Active as of reporting-period end: yes
ExclusionsField 9Exclusions
  • Patients with total colectomy.
  • Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (higher-risk surveillance pathway).
  • Patients deceased before the reporting-period end date.
