Strategic goalField 3Strategic goal
Reduce influenza-related morbidity and mortality in the elderly population through annual vaccination.
RationaleField 5Rationale
Patients age 65+ are at highest risk of influenza complications including hospitalization and death. Annual vaccination reduces hospitalization by 30–40% in this population.
How it's computedScoring method, numerator, denominator, inclusions, exclusions.
NumeratorField 6Numerator
Rostered patients in the denominator with an influenza vaccine administration documented in the EMR within the current flu season (Sept 1 – March 31 of the reporting period).
DenominatorField 7Denominator

Active rostered patients, age 65+ at reporting-period end.

  • Sex eligibility: F, M
  • Age range: 65120
  • Active as of reporting-period end: yes
ExclusionsField 9Exclusions
  • Patients with documented severe allergy/anaphylaxis to influenza vaccine components.
  • Patients deceased before the reporting-period end date.
